XSLT still gets transformation error

I've followed the instructions on moving the xalan, xercesImpl and xmlParserAPIs jar files, and adding the -D flag to the startup for my JEdit installation on Java 1.4.1_02 on RedHat Linux 8. I still get the transformation error about running with the old version of Xalan-Java. Is there something else that needs to be done? This worked fine when I ran JEdit with Java 1.3.1.

xslt class cast exception

I can't figure this out either. Do you know what class is being returned from FactoryFinder.find() mehtod? Here is the jaxp configuration on my machine (included -Djaxp.debug=true):
javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory=org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl
javax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory=org.apache.xerces.jaxp.SAXParserFactoryImpl
org.xml.sax.driver=org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser

I can't understand why the following cast fails:
(SAXTransformerFactory)TransformerFactory.newInstance();

I suspect the newInstance() call is returning
TransformerFactoryImpl.class which extends the SAXTransformerFactory.class

I noticed the org.apache.* packages used come from rt.jar (used the -verbose option). How can we stop this? Following the directions don't seem to do it.

I think I'll try rearranging my class path so Jedit loads the org.apache.* packages from the endorsed directory or some other directory.
