Any examples for configuring & using the SuperScript plugin ?

Hi all,

I'm having problems getting SuperScript to do anything but output what appear to be error messages. This sounds like a totally cool plugin, but I can't find any examples of how to setup and use it.

I'd love to be able to run perl scripts with it, and eventually beanshell scripts/macros.

Anyone have tips?

Here's the output I get when trying to compute 1+1 several different ways, none of which work:

-> 1+1

org.apache.bsf.engines.perl.PerlEngine
-> 1+1

bsh.util.BeanShellBSFEngine

bsh.util.BeanShellBSFEngine
-> 1 + 1

The procedure to run SuperScript with a Scripting Engine are well laid down in the SuperScript User Manual docs. To run any scripting language, you need the scripting engine's BSF implementation. Say you want to run Beanshell, then you first have to get Beanshell's BSF implementation from http://www.beanshell.org/download.html there is a download called bsh-bsf. download it and put it in the jedit.home/jars where jedit.home is where you have installed jedit. Regarding Perl, its support is a bit flaky but I am successfully running Beanshell, JavaScript, Groovy, Jython in SuperScript(because these are then only scripting languages I know Smiling

Your directions got bsh working in superscript within seconds - thanks!

One final step: after putting the jar in the jars dir, I had to restart jEdit. I believe that one was documented in the manual, but the other stuff you offered was clearer than the provided online plugin help.
