Function notification?
Submitted by Anonymous on Thursday, 9 September, 2004 - 03:06
Im looking to see if there is a plugin, or feature that will tell me what Functions are in the file i have open as well as tell me which function im currently in.

Example text:

function Something()
{

# when typing in here it would tell me im in Something.

}

And then i would imagine there being some sort of drop down list that i can see the functions in the file, and be able to select one and be taken to the first line of that function.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Try the CodeBrowser plugin: http://plugins.jedit.org/plugins/?CodeBrowser

It requires CTags: http://ctags.sourceforge.net
You should download the newest release.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Installing ctags for OSX is a little painful for someone who doesnt like the whole make install stuff...

Code browser is ok, but I'd really like to see something in the jEdit program. Similar to what Buffer Tabs does. Just give me a drop down, and let me know where im at.

Heck if the status line could tell me what function i was in that would be even better.

Eye-wink

Thanks for your help. I got Code browser to work, just not too keen on it.

I've got 10.3.5 here and if it didn't come preinstalled i'm sure that ctags comes w/ the development files. It may not be the best of versions but that's what fink or gentoo is for =).
