Unsupported major.minor version 49.0

Hi, I just update to 4.2-2jpp via yum, and now when I lauch jedit I get that :

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: org/gjt/sp/jedit/jEdit (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass0(Native Method)
.....

I read somewhere that it has to do with my version of java and the version used to compile the program. Here I run jvm and jdk 1.4.2_06-b03 on Fedora Core 3. anyone can help?

Same setup, same error. No luck so far.

Looks like jEdit was compiled

Looks like jEdit was compiled w/JDK 1.5. You either need to install JDK 1.5 or install a version of jEdit compiled with 1.4.x. The easiest thing would probably be to use the java installer from www.jedit.org.

Same error here. But i have jdk 1.5 and today i instaled jEdit 4.2. Every time i run "java" command in console, i get that error.
I tried to change some options, classpath, path, etc.. but no help.
p.s. command "javac" work just fine.

(p.p.s. I tried to register in this forum, but not get anything in my mailbox. That's way Im Anonymous.)

You may have an older version

You may have an older version of java in your path.
