any future releases of jEdit planned or in progress?

Hi all,

I've been an avid jEdit user for a number of years now and always look forward to new versions and plugins. However, I haven't seen any new jEdit versions for some time now, and wondering if development is still ongoing?

I am also just discovering what a powerful application jEdit is, and starting to write macros/modes for it, and would love to think it still has a thriving community. Anyone else out there?

If you haven't noticed they just released jedit4.3pre4.
So thing might be slow but the development haven't stopped.

I use jEdit as my primary editor for all sorts of things: HTML, XML, Java, Python, CSS, and Javascript mainly, but also PHP, SQL, and various other things too from time to time. In my ever so humble opinion, it is the best GUI editor (as opposed to a console editor like VI/emacs) out there.

However, after using jEdit for several years, I've come to the conclusion that it will never be updated. Whoever is in charge of administering it's development clearly has either no desire or no management skills, and while I'm sure there are plenty of developers out there who would like to contribute to jEdit, you can't have a good open source project without leadership. There is so much evidence of this both in jEdit's lack of updates (4.2 has been the stable version for how many years now?) and lack of organized community (this message board is the most active community jEdit has, and look at it!).

It's truly a tragedy, but I've actually started trying to make emacs work like jEdit, just because I know that it has a strong development community that won't fade away without passing on the reigns, the way jEdit's team has done.

This editor has become and invaluable tool for me. A lot of the 4.2Pre9 features are great! I would love to see a version 4.3. It looks like there is some activity still in SVN http://sourceforge.net/project/stats/detail.php?group_id=588&ugn=jedit&type=svn
