Jedit showing . characters

In JEdit,
The editor is showing a "." instead of EOL character and a ":" whenever the word wrapping happens. Although sometimes desirable i want to TURN THIS feature off. Is there anyway i can do this?

I tried playing with the global options, buffer options and the forums but cudnt find something though.

I kind of figured out that EOL marker removing can be done here. Is ther e a way to remove the annoying ":" mark whenever there is a word wrap. I tried in GlobalOptions -> Editing or TextArea :-/

Go to "GlobalOptions->Text Area->End of line markers". You can set a color of Your choice for the markers and also hide them by unchecking this option.

This is a terrible default setting. I haven't yet met someone who wants this checked by default, and only Jedit does it this way. Its best set as a toggle in the toolbar, default to off.
