Sort Lines (editplus style sort) (Sort.bsh v1.1 by Yuan Wang)
Submitted by p8er on Thursday, 11 May, 2006 - 07:35
Sort selected lines or whole buffer (when nothing is selected).
This is just similar to the sort function in Editplus 2.
Features:
  • Order - Either ascending order or descending order.
  • Starting column - Enter a column number from which the sorting operation begins. The text before this column number will be sorted when string after the column is the same. Enter an integer value great than or equals to 1.
  • Case sensitive - The case-sensitive comparison option.
  • Remove duplicates - Remove any duplicated line after the sorting option.

At last ... Sort!
by vlashua on Fri, 30/06/2006 - 21:32
I have used EditPlus beta code since 1996 or so, since I paid for my first full version. Until jEdit, I thought it was the greatest text editor ever for the windows platform (of course it edits mac and unix files, too). One of its best features is the small memory footprint.

I started using jEdit in 2003, and am more and more enthusiastic as I become more fluent in Java and beanshell, but I miss EditPlus's sorts (including the rectangular areas. So far as I've used it, your sort macro is great... and I can study the code! What are the problems with rectangular areas?

Thanks again,
Vane

Bug fixed
by p8er on Tue, 04/09/2007 - 15:07
I am very glad to hear you like this.

But I am so sorry for a bug in this macro, and I fixed it just recently.
(Another user of this macro, Christian, told me about the bug.)

And about the rectangular area, I don't know EditPlus support that. I will confirm it and study how it works, and then maybe update this macro again if it is not difficult to implement.

Thank you for your information.
