WTF MAKES A NEW LINE???

I need to fine all commas (,) and replace them with a new line/ carriage return.

for example: jim,jane,john,joe,kelly,kent,kimberley
becomes:
jim
jane
john
etc....

HOW?

in BBEdit I can
find: ,
replace: \r
done.

but jedit doesnt respond to \r, \n, \r\n it just literally replaces the , with \ r \ n !
ie: jim\rjane\rjohn\rjoe\rkelly\rkent\rkimberley !

And where is the best place to find active JEdit users? Is there an irc channel anywhere?

You can also press CTRL-ENTER for an line break. I works in search and replace, without regex on.

You can select a new line from any buffer, copy it (Ctrl+c) and paste it on the replace textarea(Ctrl+v).

Well, in answer to the specific question, the fuck that makes a newline is \n and remembering to tick regular expressions in the search window...

As far as questions and answers go, possibly it's taking the attitude that stuff is missing when you don't seem to have read any of the help. (I think jEdit uses a common PCRE syntax in 4.3, if you need to google for more info.)

Do what you did (i.e. replace a comma with a \n), but mark the "Regular expressions" check-box (under 'Settings' in the Search And Replace dialog).
