Submitted by poleta33 on Tuesday, 2 January, 2007 - 14:15
Hi

for sure my question is non-sense but I try : is it possible to dock another application (such xcalc or xclock or putty, etc..) inside jedit ?

bye

docking applications within jEdit

Hi,

I think what this guy means is that he wants to dock outside applications within jEdit. Putty is a UNIX based prompt program as an example. I use my putty to connect to an Apache server for PHP coding. It would be nice if I could dock this within jEdit for ease of use.

There really isn't any way to do this currently. I know Sun is doing some great work within the JDIC project to be able to include the user's browser in your Java Applications (you would be able to put Firefox, or IE in your Java Application), but they're still far off from doing much else.

Java's getting better with it's desktop integration so this may be possible in the future.
