Toggle comment instead of insert comment

Could you please change the Line Comment (Edit > Source > Line Comment) and Block Comment (Edit > Source > Block Comment) actions to toggle comments instead of simply adding them. i.e. If the selected text is already marked as a comment then remove the comment marking.

I tried to map/bind the keys in Window-Preferences-Keys but it didn't had any effect. Command "Toggle Comment" is bind to CTRL+SHIFT+C but it invokes "Content Assist" command.

Can somebody please investigate and help?

See the text tools plugin. I think that may do what you are looking for.

I tried that. The comments that said to try the text tools plugin were about 3 years old. It looks like the currently available versions don't include the toggle comment feature. The older versions don't seem to be available.

TextTools do exactly what You want (among other things)! If the TextTools Plugin is installed, there are these two actions available:

1. toggle-line-comment
2. toggle-range-comment

You can invoke them at the action bar or from the menu Plugins->TextTools->...

It doesn't seem to work. If I either place the cursor on a line or select the whole line and try to toggle a line comment in an xml file nothing happens.

Each jEdit mode knows:
1. a line comment string (i.e. "//") which is placed at the beginning of a line and comments out the whole line
2. a begin and end comment string (i.e. "/*" + "*/") which are enclosing a block of text to comment out

The toggle-line-comment action only toggles the line comment string, but for XML there isn't one...
