JEdit 4.3 pre16 on Windows Vista SLOW scrolling

There seems to be a 1 second delay between pressing page down and the screen responding.

Subsequent pgdn's don't appear to be cached, so scrolling via the keyboard happens very slowly.

This also happens using the scroll wheel on the mouse.

This also happens using the Vertical Scroll component on the side of the screen. This was not happening on the previous version of JEdit.

Is there a fix / patch, or a command-line switch that will fix this?

Hardware:
Windows Vista Business; 1GB RAM; Athalon 64 X2 4200+; NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS video card

Do not use the subpixel setting - extrememely slow!!! ( but very beautiful; too bad! )

Fractional Font Metrics

Scrolling in jEdit 4.3 pre15

Scrolling in jEdit 4.3 pre15 is not slow with "Fractional Font Metrics" enabled.

I have found jre where scrolling is not broken in pre16+ jEdit versions with "Fractional Font Metrics" enabled.

So the bug can be on both sides.

Anyway disabling "Fractional Font Metrics" helps but then this option is useless because default jre taken from official site breaks scrolling and most people are using it.

I don't believe that "most people" have enabled Fractional Font Metrics. Personally, I can't see any improvement of the text rendering with this option enabled.

Also, I can't reproduce the bug. It seems to depend on other things, too - maybe graphics driver...).

Slow scrolling on Vista

I can definitely see the same very slow scrolling on pre-17. Too slow to be usable. But thanks the the previous comments I found that DISABLING Fractional Fonts and keeping SubPixel anti-aliasing ENABLED fixes the problem. Using an NVidia GEFORCE 9500 GT graphics card.

Now seems to work fine.
