Code Alignment

Is there any way to vertically align code by any character such as equals and period?

Edit Mode Definition

Indenting is defined on a per Edit Mode basis in the mode definition file. Take a look at the User's Guide at:
- http://www.jedit.org/users-guide/writing-modes.html
- http://www.jedit.org/users-guide/mode-tag-props.html

Especially look for properties "indentOpenBrackets" and "indentCloseBrackets".

Code Alignment

Hi Robert.

Thanks for the response. Actually, though, I was looking for a way to align code vertically that goes beyond indentation. I'd like something that takes the selected lines of code and:

1) aligns the beginning of the lines.
2) adds spaces within each line to make the equals sign line up.

I hope that makes sense.

Regular Expressions

Hi,
I don't know such a feature, but You could try Search &Replace using Regular Expressions, i.e.:

Search Text: ^[ \t]*(.*)\s*=(.*)
Replace with: $1\t= $2
