Global defaults not applied at start-up

Using jEdit
( I've just started using jEdit, so probably done something dumb ... )

When I first start up jEdit, it doesn't apply the settings I changed under Global Options. After starting jEdit, I have to go to the Global Options dialog (where I can see that all my changed settings have been loaded), click Apply, then click OK, after which all the fonts, key assignments and so forth are applied. How can I make it do that automatically?

I'm running the Debian Linux jedit package, version 4.3.2.

Hi, the usual behavior is:

APPLY - Apply changes without leaving the options dialog
OK - Apply changes and close the options dialog

It's hard to believe that jedit have applied different options than shown in the options dialogs.

But there are two issues:
1. If You have the ~/properties file opened in jedit, changes of properties are not saved.
2. If You've changed a setting which needs a jedit restart, You have to ensure that You REALLY exit jedit: This is achieved via "File -> Exit". If all jEdit views (alias windows) are closed via "X"-button, jEdit may keep running in background!
