This seems to be a problem of the bib-file parser. It does not recognize entries in double quotes. Only entries in curly braces are displayed in the BibTeX navigator. I realized that the following works:

@Article{labelName,
    author = {Smart, Guy},
    title = {Interesting Article}
}

while the following does not work (means: will show no content in the corresponding fields in the BibTeX navigator, BibTeX itself of course accepts it):

@Article{labelName,
    author = "Smart, Guy",
    title = "Interesting Article"
}

Since the latter is standard in my eyes, while curly braces are meant to group words within the fields, this is a severe drawback if you ask me. Especially because I frequently download provided BibTeX entries from databases in the internet which use the double quoted syntax.

Hope that will be fixed someday. (Where can I report this bug? Sorry I'm new in the community.)
