sftp plugin : The key format is not a supported format
Submitted by matevad on Wednesday, 12 July, 2006 - 14:07
Hello,

Anyone gets the same message as I do?
I have been using the keys with putty for years without any problem. I dont understand why the key is not supported.

The key is generated using PUTTY parameters : SSH-2 RSA 1024 bits

Otherwise the sftp plugin works fine if I use password authentication

The problem is that the only keys that are supported are OpenSSH-format keys. Puttygen can export these from the Putty-format keys:

1. Open the Putty private key in puttygen
2. Select Conversions -> Export OpenSSH Key
3. Type a name for the key and hit Save

You *should* be able to use that key file for your sftp connections. it works for me on Java 1.6u1, Windows XP Home, Jedit 4.3pre9, FTP 0.9.1.
