After trying the Navigator plugin, I think it will work for me.

Think of it this way... When trying to figure out how a routine works in our language, you may need to go on a tangent that drags you around to a half a dozen different routines. I essentially want to be able to undo the tangent, even thought I have made no changes that would be in the undo buffer.

In visual studio you could remember the cursor position in the undo buffer so that when you go on a tangent to figure out how a routine works, you could ctrl+z your way back to where you started from.

That is essentially what I am trying to do. Navigator is not ideal but it works. I can just change my thinking a little bit so that I have two undo buffers, one for changes, and one for tangents. I assigned Navigators "Back" button to alt+z, and I think it should work fine, it's just going to take a little getting used to.
