How to use automatic configuration script with jedit
Submitted by vivekbhat on Wednesday, 2 December, 2009 - 08:21
Hi,

I use jEdit in office where we connect to the internet using proxy. This proxy is set by an automatic proxy configuration url (PAC).

Now I am not sure how run this configuration in jEdit. I know there is "Proxy Servers" settings tab in "Global Options". But there is no place where I can put the automatic proxy configuration url. The downside of this is that I can install or upgrade jEdit or jEdit Plugins here.

Any help will be greatly appreciated... Smiling

Does Your proxy often change? Otherwise maybe an administrator could tell You the proxy settings.

BTW: Of course You can install plugins without having jEdit connected to the Internet. You'd have to download and copy them to the jars directory manually.

Yes, I can install Plugins by directly downloading them. But it is much better if I can directly download through Jedit Smiling..

I thought there would be some way in jedit that I can execute that PAC script.. but if not I will have to contact the sys admin guys ...

Any solutions?

I have been trying to do the exact same thing and like you, can't get jEdit to execute the PAC script and connect through the proxy. Did you get any luck on finding a solution to this by any chance?

Has this been solved yet? Fi

Has this been solved yet? First noted in 2010. Trying to use a PAC script at my workplace. Unable to connect to plugin central to download plugins, until this works. Thanks in advance.
