jEdit opens formerly not opened files at startup
Submitted by gtecsoy on Sunday, 3 October, 2010 - 00:00
Dear Developers and Forum Members!

I am a newbie in jEdit. It seems to me very good. Thank you for your efforts and excellent work.

I have a small problem with it. At startup the system loads that kind of files which were never opened.

It loads those files, which are in my user profile directory (C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxx\).

I am using:

When I check the settings directory (C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxx\.jedit) I have to realize, that the system writes never opened files to perspective.xml and recent.xml files all time.
I have deleted those files from the mentioned xml files and the files from settings-backup but it did not solve the problem.

The "Restore previously open files on startup" option is set up.

Thank you for your kindest help.

I'm not sure if I understand Your problem:

1. You have *enabled* "Restore previously open files on startup"?
2. At startup, jEdit loads files that You don't want to be loaded?

If so, please try to close all buffers and chose "File -> Exit". Then re-start jEdit. Now there should be no buffers open.

The problem is: the jEdit loads the files from my user profile (the files from %USERPROFILE%)when I start it.

I have done it as you suggested, but it did not solve the problem. The jEdit loads those files again.

Please try this:
- Be sure that jEdit isn't running (even the background server): start jEdit and then chose "File -> Exit"
- Delete the whole settings directory (C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxx\.jedit).
- re-start jEdit

Dear Robert, thank you for your kindest help.

It seems to me, there is a bug in my program launcher application Appetizer.

After starting the jEdit from the Windows launch bar, this problem has gone.

Sorry for your wasted time.
