Updating Account Information
Submitted by nyambol on Thursday, 4 March, 2010 - 13:58
Hello,

Two items. First and most important, I had to create a new site identity in order to log in, after I reset the theme of my old account to one of the items in the 'theme's option list. That 'theme' was completely broken, a set of template tags that hooked into nothing. So there was no longer any way for me to do anything on the site, including reset the theme, once logged in. I did email someone identified as being in charge of community development, but nothing happened. This is really poor on two fronts. No one to contact when there are problems, and (IMO) worse, a half-assed deployment of Drupal that includes elements that are not implemented. It seems that it's caveat emptor if you are fiddling around with your account settings.

The second item is that I tried to upload an 'avatar' picture, and that feature seems broken, too. At least, I uploaded a picture (74x85 png) and after saving settings, the avatar setting reverted to 'no file chosen.'

C'mon guys. I know everybody has a real job, but it's just common courtesy and sense to disable functions that you don't want to mess around with. Purge the themes list or disable it altogether. It's not like it would hurt my feelings if I was stuck with the default site look. A broken "feature" is worse than no feature at all.

Thanks.

Mark all forum message as read
Submitted by neerolyte on Thursday, 22 January, 2009 - 23:45
Is there anyway to mark all the messages in the forum as read, without having to read them all?

Most other forums have this and it's really useful if you just want to browse a forum as apposed to looking for something specific.
Forum Search Results are Dificult to understand

When doing a search in the forums, the title of the thread would be very helpful, even if the post that returns the result is not the main article in the thread.
Updating account information

Is it possible to update my account information (in particular,
changing the email address)? I can click on "my account" to display it, but I don't see any link which would allow me to change it.

jedit pre10 stopped wotking?
Submitted by brendanjeffrey on Thursday, 9 October, 2008 - 18:36
I have been using jeditpre10 for about a year now, within last 2 days it has stopped working all together. Using a Mac, OSX intel. Upon trying to open document the icon bounces once in mac dock then disapears, failing to open application. I tried repairing my permissions in disk utility for Mac, this is the extent of my knowledge however. Has anyone experienced this problem? Please help.

Thanks

query: SELECT data, created FROM cache WHERE cid = 'archive:calendar:1217574000' in /home/groups/j/je/jedit-community/htdocs/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 90.
Plugin or Macro?
Submitted by tj.rothwell on Wednesday, 9 July, 2008 - 18:22
I was wondering if there is a way to change the behavior when editing a file that was updated/modified outside the editor.

Instead of a notification to reload or ignore the change, could there be one that would allow the user to merge the two?

In order to do this, could it be done as a macro tying in jdiff? Or would you need a plugin to override the event on how to handle changed files?
Move this forum to Google Groups?

Anyone else experience poor performance and sluggishness with the jedit community site? Is there much community support out there still? Would anyone support moving this forum to Google?
Hanging problem
Submitted by srikrishnan on Tuesday, 18 March, 2008 - 08:10
Hi,

I am using JEdit mainly for the purpose of Writing and Editing XML and Perl Scripts in my Windows 2000 Professional Operating System.

I am encountering JEdit gets Hanged problem very often mainly with the use of plugin "console".

Particularly when i writing a perl script, if, for the testing purpose when I run the script using JEdit plugin console. I am not able to terminate the script by any shortcuts as like in Command prompt with "ctrl+C".

Also in one occasion, I have written a perl script to run infinitely for the purpose of Watch folder concept. At that time for testing purpose I have run that script in "Console". Even after closing the JEdit also script runs in background. At last I have restart my system. But this is not the case in "Command Prompt".

May I know whats the reason for the above behaviors, may be it could be the problem of JEdit with my type of OS.

Please check.

Regards,
Srikrishnan
email address shown to public
Submitted by janilxx on Tuesday, 15 January, 2008 - 07:54
I tried to search my email address with google and it gave me one hit:
http://community.jedit.org/cgi-bin/TWiki/view/Main/MyUserName

In that page I can see my email address, everybody can see it.

I have now changed my email address here in jedit.org but how can I change it in wiki? Wiki seems to be broken anyway.
I want my email address off from that public page.

Thanks

Forum breaks messages containing "invalid" tags
Submitted by Romulo A. Ceccon on Tuesday, 8 January, 2008 - 11:26
Hi,

I've posted a new topic in another forum containing "<" and ">" characters and it ended up broken (I wrote "<enter>"). Although it says you can use some tags, it shouldn't break messages when there are "invalid" tags, right?

Romulo

P.S.: The message "allowed HTML tags" appears only when posting a comment, but not for a new topic.

P.P.S.: The forum accepts <p>, <br> and <table> tags (perhaps any other), although the list of allowed tags doesn't state so.
Delete account
Submitted by Romulo A. Ceccon on Tuesday, 8 January, 2008 - 09:35
Hi,

Is it possible to delete a jEdit Community account?

I signed up with another username ("Romulo", without the quotes) but changed my mind later. I never logged in. Will it be automatically removed?

Thanks,
Romulo
Retire this forum and link the SourceForge equivalent...
Submitted by Denyer on Wednesday, 3 October, 2007 - 12:29
...there's an active jEdit community, but this forum gives the impression discussion is slow/dead. It's also somewhat unfriendly to newcomers as a fair number of threads never get a response.
redirect feature requests to tracker
Submitted by Redoute on Sunday, 23 September, 2007 - 08:39
In the feature requests forum it was said that feature requests are better posted to the tracker on sf.net.

So I think the forum should close and be replaced with a link to the tracker. Respectively the advice "Please do not submit bug reports to the forums ..." should be expanded for feature requests.
