Redesign of this community web?
Submitted by ruanjiaxing on Tuesday, 2 June, 2020 - 18:26
First, I'm not related to the maintainer of this website. I'm an user just like all of you. What I wrote here is just my own proposal.

It seemed this site is written using Drupal and hosted on sourceforge, doesn't it?

I liked it because of it simplicity but I have to point out the fact that it looked not modern at all. Being a product written from scratch by customizing a CMS like Drupal so it's nothing surprise that it can't counter spam!

Being afraid of spam this site is closed from registering new account and if someone want to have an account he has to pm the site maintainer. This inconvenient is one of the reason why this community is too inactive.

I proposed to close this community website completely and just keep it in archive form for people could read old content. We should design a new community website. The first part I think is simplifying the appearance. The fact is this site packed too much features that make it confused to use. I think a forum is enough to replace everything there. Another site for user project could be great, if you found a forum is too limited in this regards. But I have seen FreeBASIC forum users shared there project and code snippets without any problem so I think a forum is enough for all of this.

And we don't need to go through all of the trouble coding, hosting our forum. There are many free online services do this for us.

https://www.g2.com/products/proboards/competitors/alternatives

I'm familiar with proboards, but you could choose any platform you liked. They are professional forums so there are already tool to counter spam or at least easier to ban and delete of spam posts than what currently on this forum.

If you agreed with me, please vote for this proposal. If you are the site maintainer, please consider this proposal. We all know JEdit is an awesome editor but the fact it has too few users so we need to do something for it. I can only help with this proposal. Because I believe an active community is a must for the success of a project.

Sincere,

JiaXing.

how to Clear the clipboard ??
Submitted by DoctorSea on Monday, 14 May, 2012 - 02:29
I am trying to write a macro that clears the clipboard. This is most important to me.
I tried

a = "";
textArea.setSelection(a);
Registers.copy(textArea,'$');

and a variety of other textArea methods(viewable online) but nothing I can find helps. What am I missing ?
How does one clear the clipboard ? Any ideas anyone? Please?

how do I get notified when commets/replies are added to a topic I started or commented in?
Submitted by plevintampabay on Monday, 24 October, 2011 - 13:03
I've looked at the notify settings for my account but the description there sounds like I'll be notified of all new posts. I only want to be notified about posts in topics I have posted to. Is that possible?

Thanks.
Revival
Submitted by Daniel Ly on Thursday, 25 August, 2011 - 14:02
It seems that jEdit experiences a revival.

I am happy because I depend on jEdit utterly and totally. jDiff plugin was broken for a long time (sometimes it hangs sometimes jEdit is very slow after using jEdit), but the new version of jDiff fixes that.

Thank you!!
Man, I'm sure glad jEdit is still around
Submitted by rickcr on Friday, 27 May, 2011 - 16:06
Years ago I used jEdit and loved it. Over time, I drifted away from it thinking I could be just as productive in vim (then TextMate on my Mac) then other editors like KomodoEdit etc. The bottom line is jEdit really rocks and I'm back to using it as my full time editor on mac and widows. The fact that it's so powerful with the plugins and works cross OS is a huge plus. Just a big thanks to whoever is still involved in this project.
How do I list all the macros I have uploaded?
Submitted by turtlecove on Tuesday, 22 March, 2011 - 06:39
I cannot find any way to list the macros I have uploaded. Even searching by my username only shows one of them. If I search for each separately I can locate them. Very cumbersome. I must be missing something simple?
Some information about plugins more used
Submitted by tonimenen on Monday, 14 February, 2011 - 21:43
Hello everybody,

I think it could be very interesting to have the chance to sort the plugins by the number of downloads of each plugin, in that way it is possible to know which are the best pluggins to use by the community.
Clean up the old projects?
Submitted by patchworker on Friday, 19 November, 2010 - 08:38
Hi,

I just deleted spam in the projects-list, the project-name was "Aaaaaa".

All the others are from 2003 ... 2004, so they're already done (like Sidekick) or not done.

Is it OK, when I clean up this list?

Greets!

Updating Account Information
Submitted by nyambol on Thursday, 4 March, 2010 - 13:58
Hello,

Two items. First and most important, I had to create a new site identity in order to log in, after I reset the theme of my old account to one of the items in the 'theme's option list. That 'theme' was completely broken, a set of template tags that hooked into nothing. So there was no longer any way for me to do anything on the site, including reset the theme, once logged in. I did email someone identified as being in charge of community development, but nothing happened. This is really poor on two fronts. No one to contact when there are problems, and (IMO) worse, a half-assed deployment of Drupal that includes elements that are not implemented. It seems that it's caveat emptor if you are fiddling around with your account settings.

The second item is that I tried to upload an 'avatar' picture, and that feature seems broken, too. At least, I uploaded a picture (74x85 png) and after saving settings, the avatar setting reverted to 'no file chosen.'

C'mon guys. I know everybody has a real job, but it's just common courtesy and sense to disable functions that you don't want to mess around with. Purge the themes list or disable it altogether. It's not like it would hurt my feelings if I was stuck with the default site look. A broken "feature" is worse than no feature at all.

Thanks.

Any updates to this?

Mark all forum message as read
Submitted by neerolyte on Thursday, 22 January, 2009 - 23:45
Is there anyway to mark all the messages in the forum as read, without having to read them all?

Most other forums have this and it's really useful if you just want to browse a forum as apposed to looking for something specific.
Forum Search Results are Dificult to understand

When doing a search in the forums, the title of the thread would be very helpful, even if the post that returns the result is not the main article in the thread.
Updating account information
Submitted by rovf on Monday, 12 January, 2009 - 10:50
Is it possible to update my account information (in particular,
changing the email address)? I can click on "my account" to display it, but I don't see any link which would allow me to change it.
