jlauncher does not open file on windows xp prof.

If I rightclick a file in windows explorer and select 'open with jedit' in the context menu, jlauncher starts jedit but with an empty document.

I tried with both 4.1 and 4.2pre8. jlauncher options are set to default.

any ideas?

Probably wrong settings-path

Hi!

This is probably because your settings-path is not in the default Locations

1)
Look where your ".jedit"-directory is stored, usually in
C:\Documents and Settings\username\.jedit
If it's somewhere different, that's the cause for the problem

2)
Enter the settings-path in the Launcher:
In "Options for jEdit" enter:
-settings="D:\Documents and Settings\username\"
(or whereever you put it)

Hi -
You are right. My .jedit file is not in the default location. Im not sure how that moved, possibly when I used powertoy xp to move my desktop location. I cant figure out how to change this back to the default setting. Anybody know how to do this?

Woops.... I figured it out right after I posted. You can edit the launcher setting by using the jedinit.exe located in the jedit install direcorty. I set the Option for jEdit to -settings="D:\PATH_TO\.jedit" and it worked fine!

This suggestion hasn't helped me. At first, trying to open a file through the context menu would launch a second instance of jedit. Now, inexplicably, and before the fix, it doesn't even do that.

Furthermore, I'm unable to access the .jedit subdirectories at all -- I get a permission denied message. I'm the admin on this machine.

Also notice that I can't "drag-and-drop" a file onto a running instance of jedit. I'm not sure if this is a suppoted feature though.

other ideas..

if you get a permission denied for ".jedit", maybe one instance of jedit is still running - check this in the task manager.

drag-and-drop should work, if you drag a file onto jedit, jedit should open it.

sounds like a complete reinstall of jedit would help..

and: do you use the current version (4.2pre11)?
