How to launch URLs from within Jedit?
Submitted by pinchy on Sunday, 8 February, 2004 - 23:41
Hello,

Is there a way to click on a url within Jedit and have it launch in the default browser? Even if I have to place the cursor over the url and use a keyboard shortcut, this would be extremely useful for me - I keep most of my 'favorites" in a few text files.

Thanks.

Did you check the macros? There should be one that allows you to highlight the url in a buffer and open it using the InfoViewer plugin, or pass it to another browser. Hmmm, actually the InfoViewer plugin might have this built in already.

This wouldn't be a one-click solution, but a highlight and key-combo, or button-clicking, or contextual-menu solution.

Youre right; it's part of the infoviewer plugin. Thanks for pointing this out to me. When I figure out how to write a macro that selects the current word and calls this function of infoviewer with one keyboard shorcut then I'll be wearing the cat's pajamas - or whatever.
Thanks for your help.
