Plugin download stalls
Submitted by Anonymous on Wednesday, 18 February, 2004 - 22:13
I'm trying to install a plugin...

My jEdit Plugin Manager opens, and downloads the latest list of plugins OK, but when I select one or more to install, the Installing Plugins progress bar appears, but does not download anything.

My modem monitor shows that no data is being downloaded. It doesn't matter which pluing I try or where I try to save it.

Please help. Thanks, Tom

Connection timeout on plugin manager download
    by takahe on Wed, 17/03/2004 - 18:25
Have you tried selecting a different mirror site? I hit a connection timeout problem today, and then tried a different site:

    Utilities-Global Options-Plugin Manager,
    Update Mirror List

then highlighted any old site e.g. Europe: HEAnet(Dublin, Ireland)
(as I'm in UK, which is close... and besides its St Patrick's Day so there's not going to be anybody in Ireland using the thing! Too busy getting hungover Cool )

    Click Apply, then OK.

The go back to plugin manager and try downloading again. You might get lucky.

Plugin download not working in 4.1
    by takahe on Thu, 18/03/2004 - 21:25
oh ok sorry I didn't spot you said you were using 4.1

I am on 4.2pre9 and that is working. Sticking out tongue

I downloaded 4.1 and installed on my pc, and I got the same as you. Currently whereever 4.1 is connecting to is not responding. I saw some past reports of people having problems if the sourceforge server is having probs.

So until the server returns, I guess 4.1 plugin manager makes a nice virtual paperweight for your virtual desktop.

All is not lost however. You can take the manual download option. First the official way: visit http://plugins.jedit.org/list.php and find which plugins you want (making a note of the dependancies listed against each), then click on the various links and download one at a time. Unzip or whatever and drop the .jar files into

    C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\.jedit\jars

    Then restart JEdit.

Unofficially, you can also find all of the plugin files at:
    http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/jedit-plugins
