Project Plugin: Preview in Browser Configuration
Submitted by Anonymous on Saturday, 10 April, 2004 - 04:34
Hi-

I'm running JEdit pre11 on MacOSX.3.

I can't seem to get the Project plugin 'Preview in Browser' menu option to work.

I've tried setting the browser path to all sorts of things, including:
open (a generic 'open this file' command)
open -a /Applications/Firefox.app (a request to open a file with an application)
/Applications/Firefox.app
/usr/bin/open (the full path to open)

I keep getting 'Error starting process: Application not found'

Has anyone got this to work on MacOS 10? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Eric Everman

I have not been able to run the Console Plugin on MAC OSx. i tried to write a macro to do a Preivew in Browser, but i can;t even get te console to run period. My guess is that this is where the problem lies. any thoughts from someone who knows what they are talking about?

This script will load the Current Buffer, into Safari. You could replace Safari with "FireFox" or whatever, Save this as "Preview_in_Browser.bsh" in yr Macros folder, then add it to the toolbar.

runCommandInConsole(view,"System","open -a Safari \"" + buffer.getPath() + "\"");
view.getDockableWindowManager().toggleDockableWindow("console");

enjoy.

Thanks

That worked great - Thanks!

I *still* would like to get this working via the project plugin, however. The bonus of the project plugin is that it allows you to see all the files in your project and pop one open in the browser w/o having to have it open in JEdit. Or at least that's what it might do...

Thanks again Wes - your script is promanently embeded in my toolbar with the "Run to buffer" icon.
