Vertical lines connecting curly braces
Submitted by ebaker on Tuesday, 20 April, 2004 - 16:05
I'm a newbie user of Jedit (3 days).

I noticed in some of the screen shots, on the www.jedit.org page, that vertical lines connected curly braces. However, my installed version of Jedit does not have this behavior.

How is that option set?

Thanks
Ed Baker

Try this: In the jEdit Options window, select "Gutter" and make sure that "show structure scope" is checked.

I beleive this enables the behavior that you describe.

No, it is the whitespace plugin. What you described appears in the gutter, while what he is asking about appears in the text area itself.

It's not a built-in jEdit feature. You have to have the Whitespace plugin installed and be using "indent" folding mode. I believe the Whitespace feature is called "fold guides".

You can either go back to the last stable build of jEdit, or there is a 'hacked' version of whitespace available that works on the 4.2pre11 build.

I downloaded the Whitespace plugin and tried all the settings. It doesn't do what I saw on the www.jedit.org screen.

It will put a connector between braces in the gutter for a single 'selected' bracket. But, it doesn't show ALL of the brace connectors like the sample page did.

THanks for trying though. Any other suggestions?
