jEdit 4.2PRE14 problems on Mac OSX

jEdit 4.2PRE14 does not work correctly under Mac OSX. I've downloaded the installer (jedit42pre14install.jar) file. Once the install is done and I start jEdit.jar from Applications.
jEdit will open, but it indicates problems with MacOS.jar (plugin): Cannot start: java.lang.noClassDefFoundError: com/apple/cocoa/application/NSMenu. Try updating to a newer version of the plugin (currently I have 3.0b).
Therefor the menu is in the window, instead of in the status bar.

I tried to update to a newer version of the plugin, but it is not available?

Please let me know how to resolve.

One extra thing: Why is the behaviour of command key and alt key so much different than in other applications, fe BBEdit.

I have the same problem here. I'm an OSX n00b though, so i have'nt really digged into it yet. It's a pretty much standard installation, and Installing Jedit pre14 works fine. I just get the same error when starting it. And where has the fancy JE icon gone? now there's only a black/green terminal icon.

pre14 works fine for me under OSX 10.3.4.

Install from jar, no error message, no changes at all.

One annoying item, however, even in other pre versions, is that after some time I cannot normally quit JEdit and it must be forced quit.

I work on lots of files, so I increased the memory and that maybe prolongs the problem.
