Hyperlink support in text buffer

Hello all,

first I want to thank all jEdit-Developers for their really great work! I love this Editor!
Nevertheless it would be great, if it would support hyperlinks in the text buffer.
So if you have constructs like http://www.jedit.org in your text buffer it would be helpfull if it would be highlighted and a klick or CTRL+klick would call the standard browser with the respective URL.

What do you think about such a feature?

One way to achieve something

One way to achieve something similar would be to use InfoViewer and the GesturesPlugin. You could configure the InfoViewer plugin to open URLs in an external browser and then bind a mouse gesture to InfoViewer's "Open selected URL in browser" action. However, for this to work you'd still have to select the URL first rather than just clicking on it.

Good idea. To add to it, a relatively simple macro could "find" and select the hyperlink reference and then call the InfoViewer's "Open selected URL in browser" method.

A regex pattern matcher should be able to do the "finding"... say, starting at the character under the cursor (and looking backwards (first)) for a match against "http" (or the like) and then the rest of the quoted ref.

There's a macro that selects quoted text that was posted not too long ago. That would make a good starting point.
