jedit as editor for ftp-clients?

i'd like to use jedit as editor for ftp clients on mac. but if i choose jedit as editor in interarchy and try to edit online files, jedit opens a downloaded copy of the file instead of opening it via ftp. any suggestions?

There is an FTP plugin for jedit that will open/save files over FTP like you are trying to do. I use it all the time -- its great. Just go to your plugin manager and you can't miss it.

Sorry, I misread your question. Your issue is not FTP'ing a file through jEdit, but rather making sure jEdit automatically does the FTP work when double clicking on a remote file, instead of d/l it locally. I'm not sure that what you are asking is possible at this point in time.
