Customizing HyperSearch window behaviour

I use a simple macro (bound to ALT-F) that calls up the HyperSearch window with a regex of ^function, the idea being to get a list of functions in a JavaScript file and skip to the required one.

This works fine, except I'd like the window to close as soon as I select the appropriate entry with ENTER.

Is there a way to achieve this?

How about using CTags

I dont know much but it seems to me that CTags has the functionality you want. I dont know how to configure it or use it for JavaScript. it dose work for java

Thanks for the suggestion.

Although CTags provides a more accurate picture of the number of functions, it's actually worse for my purposes; I really want a way to jump to a function and start editing without taking my hands off the keyboard.

The CTags results window requires a couple of clicks, with the HyperSearch window I only have the window itself to close as an extra step.

Provided you assign Plugin > Tags > Follow Tag to a shortcut, you shouldn't have to use your mouse once. Where are you having to use the mouse?
