BTW, I can't set an alternate download site. I can get a list of them and select one, but it has no effect.

I tried opening http://plugins.jedit.org/export/gzip_plugin_manager.php from firefox and get a error message that the server isn't available. Oddly enough I can howerver open plugins.jedit.org. Maybe it's some sort of virtual server setup and that particular box just happens to be down. I'd bet if you wait a while and try fetching the plugins in a bit it will work again.

Just tried opening the page in firefox again, and got this message instead. "error opening cache file '/home/groups/j/je/jedit-plugins/cache/%2Fhome%2Fgroups%2Fj%2Fje%2Fjedit-plugins%2Fhtdocs%2Fexport%2Fnew_plugin_manager.php.cache' for writing". Looks like something on the server is definitly broken. I also notice the forum seems to be running rather slow as well, so maybe all the servers are haveing some problems. I know a couple new worms hit the net recently, so maybe there bogged down in viral traffic, but thats just random speculation. At any rate, hopefully the above error message will help pin down the problem a little. Until it's resolved there isn't really anything any users can do to install or update plugins. For some reason this seems to be affecting the mirror servers as well, so maybe the plugin list is hosted from the central repository even if your using a mirror (common point of failure, any way to alleviate that?).

and do you have a solution for your problem? i would too change my browser from ie to firefox, they are different views in the graphical output - i use many javascripts (for my kochrezepte side) and must do this, but if i can not use jedit plugins - i think i get the same problems like you.
