Submitted by Anonymous on Wednesday, 17 November, 2004 - 21:19
Hi!

sorry, i'm a newbie, so...
the features list "highlighting of many languages"... my java files has no different colors or highlighting at all. i installed some plugins, and it did well with html code, but not with my java code. could it be it is, because it's not named .java?

and how do i get rid of the blue vertikal line?
what is it good for?

thanks for your help!

Highlighting Java Code. As far as I know jEdit identifies that .java files are java files and uses the right edit mode. If you want you can load a text file and change the edit mode for current buffer from "text" to "java" manually. Buffer Options->Edit Mode.

But I don't know how can you save it so that next time you open .txt file it'll be opened in java Edit Mode.

Blue line is called "Wrap Guide". It indicates that lines will be wrapped after that. To turn it off goto Global Options->Text Area-> Uncheck "Wrap Guide".

Hope this helps.

It is possible! Place the following in one of the first or last 10 lines of the buffer:

// :mode=java:

This wasn't ment to be submitted three times.. i used the forward/backward button of the browser, so i guess that's why...

ok, it does the correct highlighting of the file if it has the java ending. what can i do if i want him to highlight also other endings (.task) in java highlighting?
