I have the same problem - I am using jedit on Windows XP and saving on samba drive. I have changed the samba configuration to chown 755, but I would not call this clean solution.

Same problem file permission change

The problem seems to be linked to the fact that since jedit 4.2 a fix has been made to solve a security hole from some badly configured unix files system.
All the file are now saved like that...
Does anyone know how to disangage this feature or at least where in the code this lines has been added ?
Thanks.

file permission change

This behavior is killing me both saving locally and saving over fuse. If anyone has a solution please let me know, otherwise I'm going to be forced to look at an alternative editor - I've been using JEdit for like 4 years now and generally love it. I've unchecked Two-stage save and turned off backups.

Update: Yesterday, I decided to wipe my .jedit dir and go from scratch. So far so good. I'll update this comment after a little while and/or if I get the dreaded permissions change behavior again. My hunch was that this couldn't possibly go unnoticed by lots of folks and that maybe the one thing about my situation is that I've had the same config file for years (through different JEdit versions).

Ok, no dice

That didn't fix it for me - I'm still getting my file permissions changed on Save.

You should ask this question in the mailing list ( https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/jedit-users ), where the developers will see it. Also You could file a bug report at https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=588&atid=100588.
