Font issues on Windows with jEdit 4.2

Whenever I start jEdit (using javaw) on Windows (XP SP2) all the fonts on the screen seem to go bold (or something). As soon as I close jEdit they return to normal.

Has anyone any idea what might be causing this?

I had this exact same problem, along with the "jedit strangly slow" dual monitor issue that has been addressed in a separate thread.

I'm guessing you have an nVidia vid card? Maybe a Quadro? Are you running dual head?

For the "mushy text" problem, disable antialiasing , or set it to "application-controlled", in your nVidia control panel. (display properties->settings->advanced->(insert your vid card name here)->performance and quality)

Problem fixed.

I have never had a problem with FSAA and Java before. My guess it is either dual screen or maybe Quadro specific. But that is just a guess. Regardless, this fixed it for me.

I had it set to 2x anti aliasing, set it to application controlled and the problem has disappeared.
