CSE HTML Validator integration
Submitted by Travis Carden on Wednesday, 28 January, 2004 - 08:47
You should consider providing integrated support for CSE HTML Validator. http://www.htmlvalidator.com/. HTML Validator is an "HTML and CSS development tool that assists in the creation of syntactically correct and accessible HTML and CSS documents". It's amazingly thorough and generally great at what it does, and lots of other professional editors are adding support for it - http://www.htmlvalidator.com/htmlval/integration.html. I just discovered jEdit today. It looks incredible! I'll be switching to it from Macromedia HomeSite. The only thing I can tell so far that I'll miss is my CSE HTML Validator integration. Please think about adding it. Thank you!!!

Firebird

I'll also mention that if you use Mozilla Firebird, it has an excellent Web Developer toolbar extension, which makes it easy to do things like validate html and css of the current page.
Something similar would be nice

The free version doesn't support integration according to their website. If someone found a free validator, it would make a nice plugin which could make use of the ErrorList.

The World Wide Web Consortium offers open source CSS Validator writen in Java and also an HTML Validator.

The CSS validator looks good.

The CSS validator looks good. Sounds like it's designed to work as a servlet, but I think a plugin could just ignore that.

Unfortunately, their html validator is written in perl. It'd still be possible to port it, but it'd be great to have one written in java.

The Tidy program offers validation functions too.

There already is a jEdit plugin for this:

Hi,

I just uploaded a macro "check_html1.bsh" which starts the checker here using the console plugin.

You will find it here:
