Similar problem

I'm having a similar problem using the Mac OS X build. Seemingly at random, the keyboard will no longer work -- no movement using arrow keys, I can't type anything... However, C+w will close the window, C+q will quit, etc. The only reliable way I've found of correcting the problem is to use the mouse, and just use a menu command like "Select Word"

jEdit 4.2 final, running on 10.3.9 with latest version of Java. As a point of note, I'm getting a similar issue with 10.4.2 at home as well.

failure isn't random - loss of cntrl , arrow keys, etc
by ewulff on Sat, 20/08/2005 - 00:21
Hi, I believe I found issues contributing to jedit's seemingly random failure. The one described by users as 'randomly loosing the function of the cntrl key, arrow keys, etc.' I now also have this problem and there is evidence strongly pointing to code facilitators - perhaps specifically the DotComplete plugin and those it depends on.

The problem occurs whenever DotComplete goes into action. After the first time dot complete kicks in I loose my arrow keys, 'ctrl' key, alt, and the numbers on my keypad(not the ones on top of the keyboard). It's as if a selection from dot completes drop down is never recorded whether one was chosen or not.

Furthermore, I think this is a bug due to JSE 1.5.0 not being completely backwards compatible because I did not have this problem until I upgraded my JSE to 1.5.0. I'm running

Fedora Core 2
Again, had this problem with jedit 4.2 and 4.3 with DotComplete and did not have it without it. Again - Again, only when on top of JSE 1.5.0. I Didn't have this problem when on top of java 1.4.2

This may be the same or a related problem: I also experience seemingly random loss of all keyboard functions, including cntrl/alt-functions.

This is with SuSE 9.3.
I don't have CodeAid or DotComplete installed, and am using Jedit mainly for Perl coding, with SideKick.

DotComplete?

Are you sure it is DotComplete? I have no problems with DotComplete on Java 1.5.0_04, but I have exactly that problem with CodeAid. And iirc then that problem is already known.

You're Correct - Seems it is CodeAid

Hi, as I posted at SourceForge - you're correct in that it seems the problem is with CodeAid. Thx for bringing this to my attn. Also, this being the case, can you recommend an alternative plugin with this functionality? I miss CodeAid tremendously - it's basically useless with this bug.
