Typing anywhere on page
Submitted by Anonymous on Monday, 2 May, 2005 - 13:54
I would like to be able to position the cursor anywhere within the editor window and begin typing at that location.

The current behavior is to force me back to the beginning of the line at the left hand side.

My Windows based editor does this but I am trying to move in to linux full time.

Thanks,
Jon

With the mouse, try Control + Left Click.

It's not currently possible to have this behavior using just the keyboard without writing macros to override the behavior of LEFT, RIGHT, UP, & DOWN. I believe I have macros that do it for UP & DOWN (or at least one of the directions) that I wrote as examples for an article. If you want 'em, I can post them.

Please post them...

I'm completely ignorant on the subject of re-writing macros...
But...
The idea of doing a keyboard / mouse click every time I want this to happen is even less attractive than learning macro programming.
