Stupid question about icons
Submitted by sinebubble on Wednesday, 10 August, 2005 - 05:44
I'm trying to change gray/blue/white default jedit icon that appears on XP in the Taskbar and in the upper left corner of the application window. I have created a customicons.jar in .jedit/jars containing jedit-icon.gif, to replace the default, and have the appropriate startup script. Still, I cannot change this icon. Any ideas for resolution?

You know, I initially tried that, but my resulting jar was half the size of the original and didn't work.

jar cf jedit2.jar bsh com gnu META-INF org

Manifest-File

It is right that the repacked jar is very much smaller, because the shipped jar is not really compressed. And if you completely repack it, it will be compressed. But it should still run, I did that too and it run fine. You only have to repack it right. What was the error after repacking it?
And try to use the jar-tool right Eye-wink
Use the -m flag to supply the manifest-file

jar cmf META-INF/MANIFEST.MF jedit.jar *

Vampire, that did it. Specifying the manifest worked.
Does anyone know if it's possible to get jedit to use a png over a gif for the jedit-icon file? I'd like to use alpha-channels to get rid of a white background on the icon I'm using (Kris Kopicki's textedit icon).

GIF supports transparency

Why do you want to use a PNG? GIF supports transparency too.
