This got to be a joke, isn't it!?

"Bug Reports - These don't belong in the forums!"

So why even bothering to open a Forum called "Bug Reports"?
Lame joke that is :|

bug tracker

It's a bit confusing. In the forum You can talk about "bugs" and look for an existing solution or workaround...

But if You really think You found a bug and want to report it to the developers, so do it at sourceforge's bugtracker for jedit .

Bug Tracker

I do want to submit a bug, but unfortunately the bug tracker now requires that you log in in order to submit one, and since I don't want to create a sourceforge account, I hope someone reads this and enters it.

Bug in regular expression search in jEdit 4.3pre5
Using Java 1.5.0_06 in Windows XP

Doing the following regular expression search and replace causes jEdit to crash:
Search Pattern: (.*)\n? Replacement Pattern: $1
Search Pattern: (.*)$ Replacement Pattern: $1

The replacement pattern can actually be anything (eg Yay$1\n, aLine$1\n, etc) and it will cause java to go haywire.

RegExp Bug #1519237 fix...question how to use
by redsv650 on Fri, 21/07/2006 - 20:11
Thanks Robert for posting the bug (#1519237) -- it's already fixed.

I'm new to the community and I was wondering if I can get a copy of the fix that's in CVS and how I would patch 4.3pre5 on Win XP (I installed the binary, not from source).

Can anyone advise if this can be done and how?

Thanks.

Tim

If you want to build from the

If you want to build from the latest source yourself, it's quite straightforward and you can do it from within jEdit.

1/ install the Java SDK from Sun
2/ get the AntFarm plugin within jEdit's plugin manager
3/ unzip the jEdit source bundle and give AntFarm the build.xml
4/ replace the jedit.jar file you've been running with the new one

4.3pre6 is out now, though, so that should have it in. Smiling
