Plugin Manager Error: Two copies installed. Please remove one of the two copies.

I'm having trouble with the XML plugin. When I try to install it - manually or via the Plugin Manager, I get the same error:
C:\Documents and Settings\jpbroome\.jedit\jars\XML.jar:
Two copies installed. Please remove one of the two copies.

But there's not 2 copies installed. I searched my hard drive - there's only the one instance of XML.jar found. It's not listed in the "Plugins" menu in jEdit, and it's not listed in "Plugin Options..." in jEdit. So I quit jEdit, deleted XML.jar, and tried installing it fresh from the Plugin Manager again, and get the same error every time, no matter what I've tried.

Is it possible some other plugin I have installed is conflicting with XML.jar, or is there some bug or situation where this error message could be displayed?

Any help is much appreciated.

Look for the second xml.jar in jedit's home directory unter \jars. Be sure that You see all files (also hidden and system).

If You really cannot find a second copy, try to delete "C:\Documents and Settings\jpbroome\.jedit\jars-cache\" or the whole settings directory.

Two copies of plugin installed (XML vs JavaScriptSidekick)

There really wasn't an additional copy of xml.jar anywhere, but I started removing each plugin I had loaded, then restarting jEdit, then adding the XML plugin to see when errors started happening.

Eventually, I narrowed it down to the JavaScriptSidekick plugin. If that was loaded, the XML plugin wouldn't load. When the JavaScriptSidekick plugin was removed, XML loads fine.

I notice under the plugin list now that the JavaScriptSidekick plugin isn't even listed (maybe not supported in jEdit 4.3 pre6?) so that might've been the problem.

It's too bad jEdit doesn't flag version-unsupported plugins in the Plugin Manager. Could've saved me some time.

HTMLSideKick plugin also caused the same problem for me

I also found that an HTMLSideKick plugin was causing the same problem for me (I didn't have the JavaScriptSideKick plugin). Removing it fixed it.

If I recall correctly, the sidekick stuff underwent a number of changes. Perhaps these older sidekick plugins were no longer needed, but lingered on in the jars/ directory.
