Can't type 'C' or 'a'
Submitted by maxpower on Sunday, 20 May, 2007 - 21:16
I haven't used Jedit in a while but I needed it yesterday and every time I typed a 'C' or an 'a' the computer beeped at me. I could see that there was a 'C' or an 'a' at the bottom as if I was typing in some sort of key combination and it was awaiting the next key. How do I fix this?

I just upgraded to 4.3 and I have the same problem

I am running Java 1.5 on Linux

Thanks

Check your shortcuts in the global options, a shortcut might be set to those keys

Utilities->Global Options... ->jEdit->Shortcuts

Thank you. That was it. I had looked at the shortcuts prior to posting but didn't see it. What I didn't realize that each plug in has its own shortcuts and sure enough, the Ruby plugin had 'C' and 'a' as shortcuts. I suspect they meant Control and Alt but messed up the syntax.

Thanks again. This was real annoying.
