colorizing text

I'm working with a fairly large shell script with lots of if statements. I'm trying to find some way of colorizing blocks of text to show my closed if statements, but I'm not having any success. Couldn't find a plugin to do the work, either. Any advice?

Why not be really strict about the way you indent your code (4 spaces! damnit!) so that you can easily tell if you're in a conditional block, or a loop or some level of the code hierarchy.

Well, yeah, but... it would be nice to get syntax coloring for shell.
