Mixed Mode Highlighting
Submitted by WarrickF on Thursday, 1 May, 2008 - 17:55
Hi All,

Is it possible to somehow have mixed mode highlighting.

We've added a custom mode for our own language, but when JavaScript it mixed into the page it does not get highlighted correctly.

What's the best way to approach this ?

Thanks
Warrick

DELEGATE
by Robert Schwenn on Thu, 01/05/2008 - 21:50
The DELEGATE attribute lets You delegate the highlighting of a part of Your buffer to another RULES SET.

Take a look at the html mode file: Inside the main rules set a javascript is recognized as a Section that begins with "<SCRIPT" and ends with "</SCRIPT>". The highlighting for this section is delegated to the RULES SET="JAVASCRIPT", witch is defined later. There You could place all token definitions for javascript. But because there is already a mode file javascript.xml, highlighting is delegated a second time to the main rules set of this mode file....

Good luck Smiling

Robert
