Multiple Buffer lists
Submitted by imgod2u on Thursday, 15 May, 2008 - 18:39
I find myself working on multiple projects at once and I'd ideally like to be able to separate the buffer list into different projects (in different windows). For instance, one window will have a buffer list containing all of the files I've opened in that window (that belong to project A of course) and the other window will have a separate buffer list that contain files opened in that window that belong to project B.

Is such a thing possible? Is there a plugin for this?

At this time it's not possible. But this feature is requested a few days ago at the Feature Request Tracker.

You can use separate JEdit instances that don't even know about one another and hence don't share the same buffer list:
java -Xmx512m -jar ${JEDIT_HOME}/jedit.jar -server=/home/ldiracdelta/.jedit/server1
java -Xmx512m -jar ${JEDIT_HOME}/jedit.jar -server=/home/ldiracdelta/.jedit/server2

Yes, and You could also use the command line option "-noserver" to get an independent new instance of jEdit..

Furthermore, the next pre-release 4.3pre15 will have the requested feature. Views or text areas could have different lists of open files.

Do you know when we can expect 4.3pre15 as it's a feature I'd quite like as well. Thanks.
