FTP Plugin: usernames containing '@' symbol?
Submitted by painted on Thursday, 5 June, 2008 - 18:21
Hello,

I love jEdit and especially the FTP plugin, it makes my work much easier.

My question is, I have several FTP accounts with the username having a format like:

paul@whatever.com

But when I enter it in the Open from FTP Site dialog, it parses it into something like:

paul@whatever.com@webhost.com

and it fails. Can anyone suggest a way to make this work?

Thanks

ftp plugin /directory listing issues
by vlashua on Fri, 13/06/2008 - 16:05
When I open an ftp directory from one particular remote site, the file listing does not appear, even though the connection is live. If I enter a valid file name in the file name input box, the file opens. If I open jEdit next time and have left the file open, the file is accessed and opened as it's supposed to, but the file list still won't appear in the file open dialog, even though if I type in the file name it opens as above.

If I use a standalone ftp client outside of jEdit, I see the files list. BUT if I drag a file from the outside ftp client from that site to jEdit, the file is vaporized / gone ... deleted from the server and appears as an empty file in jEdit.

Most other ftp sites work as expected, though I've taken to coping files to an interim directory on my local machine instead of the ftp client as advertised so I don't have to think about it. What is it about that ftp site (NT, IIS, Sad ...) that might be screwing it up?

Hmm. That's odd.

Can you provide any more information? Is the ftp server on Windows? Is it running standard ftp server software? Do the files names have any weird characters in them?

I had the same issue. Try replacing @ with the + sign.

Worked like a charm! Thanks!

Where can I suggest to the devs as a feature to automatically parse the @ into a + in the username box? It's not a very obvious solution.

Thanks
