Block Insert Broken?
Submitted by herr_jon on Tuesday, 29 July, 2008 - 20:00
Using block insert, using + , to select regions of a file for txt insertion used to work but now creates irregular areas. The way I've been using this feature is in the columns before or after existing text I select a zero width column then type new contents in that collumn. What used to happen was each character would be equally spaced from the left hand margin - what happens now is the spacing is variable. Can this be fixed? Thanks, Jon

TAB's?
by Robert Schwenn on Wed, 30/07/2008 - 19:11
I guess that the whitespace, where You place the rectangular selection, contains tab's. You have to replace them by spaces.

If this is not the solution, please try to tell exactly what are You doing, where is the problem and what's "now" and former Eye-wink

I think i have this issue when...

I have the orig. poster problem when I turn on "Fractional font metrics". Tabs are converted to spaces, so this not a problem.

"Fractional font metrics" unchecked, when i do a column select zero width (more with width) far right of the text where there is no spaces or tabs, it creates a straight line/rect.

"Fractional font metrics" checked, when i do the same selection on the same file, the line/rect is jagged. It is almost like when this option is checked the white spaces that isn't a white space (past the end line marker) is using a font that does not match the text area font.

Yes, it's the same for me.

Yes, it's the same for me.

I have disabled "Fractional font metrics". Can You see any reason to enable it? Just a few days ago one of the developers thought, that this option could be removed completely...
