Using split screen for two separate files
Submitted by forkinpm on Saturday, 11 October, 2008 - 10:24
Hallo!
I am new to your great editor and would like to be able to use the editor split pane capability to open one file and create a second from a translatiion of the first.
Is this possible?
I hope so, but I can see how to?
I would also like to be able to use jEdit in a reduced size window, but cannot seem to see how to.
Please help me.
Thank you and regards, forkinpm.

Create a file: English.txt C

Create a file: English.txt
Create another file: German.txt

Open both files in jEdit.

Use the "Split Vertically" button on the toolbar to split the pane.

Use the Buffer switcher, or Buffer Tabs in the second pane to select German.txt.

Begin translation? I'm not aware of any translation plugin, so you'll have to do the translation yourself.

As for the second part, if you start jEdit and it's full screen, can't you just use the "Windowed" button to reduce it's size? On windows, it's the middle button in the top right corner of the jEdit Window. On a mac, it's the far right one.

Splitting buffer
by bunizz on Sun, 08/04/2012 - 22:17
Hello,

Is it possible to split the current buffer into two or more pages?

Let's say I have a file with 300 lines of code. The total number of lines I could see is 50.

I would like to split the buffer vertically into two pages. So that I could see the 1-50 lines in the first page, and 51-100 in the second page.

If I scroll down in the first page, the second page is scrolled down as well.

I hope I can tell what I am seeking for.

Thanks,
bunyamin.

Goto "View -> Splitting ..."

Goto "View -> Splitting ..." to split a view.

Regarding synchronized scrolling: There's a new "SynchroScroll" plugin. I guess it should do what You want.
