Troubleshooting
Hi, i'm using jedit within windows 7 beta. When i start jedit the whole system freezes. The only thing i can do is to press the power button in this case. jdk-version: java verson "1.6.0_12" Java SE Runtime Environment Java HotSpot Client VM Do you guys think it's the jdk version 1.6.0_12, or does anyone have experience running jedit with it? Or do you think it's the OS? ps.. i installed jedit with the native windows installer. should i try the installation based on JRE?

I just installed JRE 1.6.0_12 and jEdit runs fine. I'm on Windows XP. jEdit is 4.3pre16 - what version are You talking about?

Maybe You have chosen the jEdit server to run at Windows startup and it bothers some things (see this mail).

I would try these steps:
1. Login with administrator rights
2. uninstall jEdit
3. restart Windows
4. Login with administrator rights
5. delete jEdit's settings directory (should be like c:\users\NAME\.jedtit\)
6. kill the processes jqs.exe and jusched.exe in Task Manager
7. re-install Java
8. re-install jEdit via the jar installer (or be sure to deactivate the option to run jEdit server at Windows startup)

Then lets see if it has helped.
