Can't find some plugins
Submitted by dj_segfault on Monday, 6 April, 2009 - 12:42
I've been using jEdit for a long time, and use a lot of plugins. I went to install it at my new job, but some of those plugins aren't listed. For instance, there were several XML ones (for indenting, validating, etc) that I can't find. I even tried looking at a few different mirrors.

Have some plugins been deprecated?

Thanks.

The XML plugin does most of what those other plugins did.

I believe the XMLIndenter was merged with the XML plugin so that it's functionality is now included in 1 plugin instead of 2.

The XML Plugin also does validation.

Were there other plugins you were looking for?

That's great, but I don't see the XML plugin in the Plugin Manager either. And I tried at least three different mirrors.

As for other plugins, off the top of my head, there was a *tidy plugin for reformatting HTML.

Hmm. That's weird. What version of jEdit are you using? Are you behind a proxy?

The JTidyPlugin is still available and I'm running the 4.3preXX

Ah. I'm running Ubuntu, and the repositories had up to pre13. I found the .deb for pre16 on SourceForge and installed it, and now I see those plugins. I'm all set now.

I think it's funny that jEdit has been in pre-release for close to three years. I absolutely love it. Being so used to the power of jEdit makes me get real frustrated by Eclipse's lame editor.

Thanks for your help.
