Thunderbird crashes

When I copy some text from jEdit and paste it into the body of an email, Thunderbird immediately crashes - vanishes without a trace. I am not saying this is a bug with jEdit, might well be with Thunderbird. But do any of you have a suggestion for fixing this - some kind of encoding settings? (For the moment I just keep gedit open and paste the text there - and do a further Copy/Paste from gedit to dump it into a Thunderbird email.)

I am using jEdit 4.3pre16 with Java 1.6.0_0 on Ubuntu 64 and Thunderbird 3.0pre (Shredder).

Thunderbird crashes every time, when I paste (Ctrl+V) something that was copied from jEdit. This does not happen if I use Ctrl+Shift+V. I'm not sure if the problem is with jEdit or Thunderbird.

I discovered that there are two ways to copy something in Linux. The first - Ctrl-C in jEdit and Ctrl-V in Thunderbird will crash my Thunderbird. But by accident I discovered the second one: If I just mark the text with in jEdit (no Ctrl C) and then press the middle mouse button in Thunderbird: Magic. The text appears without any problem.

By the way, I have discovered BeanShell, I am really happy with jEdit now. Thanks again.
