Syntax error highlighting on save?
Submitted by greescom on Wednesday, 12 January, 2011 - 14:46
I used to do a lot of php coding with jedit & I'm sure that when you saved your document any syntax errors were highlighted in red & it told you at the bottom how many errors you had (with the "PHPParser" plugin installed).

I am now learing JAVA using jedit & I had assumed that same functionality would be included, However I am not getting any syntax errors at all in jedit for PHP or JAVA.

I have done a fresh install of Jedit so maybe I have messed something up?

Still trying.

Really appreciate some help here. I've removed all plugins & re-installed them, methodically been through every plugin's comments to see if i've missed a plugin, and even re-installed an old version of java. Still no error highlighting.

Sidekick docked!

Thanks for the reply. Messing around tonight and figured it out! You have to have the sidekick plugin docked at the side for parsing to work when you save your buffer. Simple fix after all! Now PHP error parsing works perfect, just like I remember.

Unfortunatly Java parsing is still not working Sad It comes up at the bottom in the status bar "Java parsing complete, 0 errors" when I save but does not flag any errors. Fookin ell.

Ghost in the machine!

Fixed it pretty quick today, just re-installed the javasidekick plugin. now everything is working great, must have been a ghost in the machine - ie something corrupted.
Plugins

You need some plugins, certainly Console, Error List, SideKick, JavaSideKick and XML - maybe others too. Goto "Plugins -> Plugin Manager" and chose the "install" tab...

Plugins installed

Yeah, I already have all those plugins & I def have all the same plugins installed as I did last time (I made a note of them) so at least php errors should be flagged.

I even tried uninstalling and installing an older version to no avail.

Very strange.
