Docking strip

I use docking for several plug-ins and have set some keyboard shortcuts to open proper plug-in windows (just like clicking on the plug-in's name in the docking strip). Now I wouldn't like to see the docking strip anymore (don't need it when I use keyboard shortcuts to access the plug-in windows). How can I hide it?

Good idea -- the ability to hide the docks would be great for freeing up
some screen real estate.

Sounds like a feature request.

By the way, what (macro) did you use for opening plugins' docks?
Also, do you have something that closes them back down?

Opening plugins' docks

... is really simple: Utilities -> Global Options -> jEdit -> Shortcuts, there select "Edit shortcuts" to the respective plugin and set your shortcut in the row
plugin name (Toggle)
i.e. for Error List plugin I have F5 on command "Error List (Toggle)"

By the way it's really perfect to have them available with keyboard, because then it's not needed to have all plugin windows still open, and with resolution 1280x... it's possible to have 2 windows opened beside each other and see first 80 characters (it should be more)

Will place it in the feature requests to switch off the docking strip...
